As the title suggests, this article deals with a lesser-known subject in the biography of Romaniaʼs last sovereign: hunting. For King Michael, hunting was – along with his passion for cars – a hobby that he developed at the encouragement of his father, King Carol II. The monarch practiced hunting on the Royal Estates or on the country estates of aristocrats honored to have such a guest. From his early teens, the King proved to be a very good hunter, with outstanding achievements. On the basis of new archival documents and memoirs of King Michael I, this study reveals another side of the sovereignʼs personality.
